This wonderfully colorful scarf is from the town of Matenwa on the island of Lagonav in Haiti. Unable to support their families with agriculture due to deforestation and erosion of the once fertile soil, the women have put their fertile imaginations, their love of color and their natural surroundings into images on silk scarves.
Isla offers two styles of these silk scarves: The approximately 36" square (LHS_Square) and the long rectangle (LHS_Long).
Each one is painted and hemmed completely by hand and the scarves are signed by the artisan. Made from 100% silk.
