"Sweeping mountain views, wind tossed palms, waves you can practically hear crashing on the beach, centuries old buildings and the piquant charm of this Caribbean island are the images are scattered throughout watercolor artist, Thelma Rivera’s paintings.

"Mrs. Rivera, a long time resident of Puerto Rico, began her journey with art in a small town in Northern Indiana. There she studied and developed a life long love for the French Impressionists. She graduated from Goshen College and took a Masters in Art Education at St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

"She taught art for 30 years. Her progression through diverse media took her from oils to acrylics and on to mosaic and sculpture. She even turned her hand to jewelry making. All these experiments never her led her to watercolor until the year she retired from teaching, when Mrs. Rivera attended a watercolor workshop at the prompting of a close friend. She was hooked.
